Design Inspiration: Savannah Collection

The Savannah Collection is one of our most popular and we had 4 STUNNING Savannah nurseries submitted in one of our recent contests, so I had to start out our series on design inspiration with this darling collection.  The Savannah Collection offers unique details like beaded moldings, sculpted capitals and hand-carved reliefs that fills any room with charm and elegance.  Perfectly feminine in both the Linen White and Onyx finish, it’s the perfect fit for your girly girl.

What’s not to adore about this nursery featuring the Onyx finish?  It’s bold and modern with the use of hot pink and black, but keeps a very traditional look with the addition of classic white paneling and damask bedding.  And the lighting…oh the lighting! I just love the pairing of two buffet style lamps on the double dresser with the shaded overhead light fixture.  Beautiful!

The use of soft colors in this nursery pairs perfectly with the Linen White finish.  Bringing in some variation in wall color with the use of stripes is simply adorable and will remain a great fit even after the bed is converted for a “big girl” room.

It’s hard for me to determine where to start on this lovely room, but I think the rug is my favorite element because it truly brings it all together.  And I love the mix of color in here with the furniture in Onyx, but the window trim/treatments and glider in white.  Another great execution of striped walls.  Oh, and look at that beautiful butterfly mirror!

Another great way to style the Onyx collection.  I especially love the neutral tone of the painted stripes on the walls–very transitional.  And the sweet chandelier along with the damask bedding gives the room that perfectly girly  feel.

Do you have the beautiful Savannah collection in your nursery?  We’d love to see how you styled it! Send me an email at Heidi@nurserychatter.com.

Babies Sleep Better on a Sopora

Jessica, from Sopora’s marketing team is back to share an in depth look at why it’s so important to consider the type of crib mattress you buy for your nursery.

Mattresses aren’t a glamorous topic.  When we’re first pregnant and begin planning our nurseries, we are so excited about picking out the colors, the style, the wood tones and bedding–that mattresses probably never even enter our heads.  This phase of planning is romantic and filled with dreams of how the room will affect our tiny blessing.  Then as the pregnancy progresses, we start buying the gear: strollers, high chairs, car seats.  This phase is filled with research and technology and we stress over how not having a particular feature might keep junior out of that perfect ivy league college. Finally, when our bodies are huge, we start looking at tiny clothes, first toys, even the cutest diapers we’ve ever seen. We organize.  We plan.  We measure.  But did we even consider the mattress or did we just buy the one that ‘came’ with the crib?

A crib mattress may be the only item in your nursery that actually has more actual physical contact with your baby than you!  Think about it.  Infants spend the majority of their very first weeks sleeping.  Sleeping in your arms.  Sleeping in the car.  Sleeping in their crib, cradle or bassinet.  And while eventually they start getting more active during the day, for the first two years of their young lives–half (or more) of their hours will be spent sleeping on their mattress.  Shouldn’t you make this purchase with eyes wide open?  Or at least think about it for the same amount of time you spent laboring over the perfect paint or fabric swatch?

One reason mattresses may be overlooked is that, quite honestly, it is a little overwhelming to make a sound decision.  All organic or Medically Approved? Innerspring or Foam?  Something traditional like your mother may have used or a more modern approach?  Once you start peeling away the layers, there is a lot to learn.

In Latin, the word Sopora means bringing deep sleep, and that is the goal of Sopora.  Bringing deep sleep for babies and their parents.

In the next installment, we’ll begin detailing what exactly makes a Sopora mattress and why they are simply incredible.  But to convince you to check them out now, consider this: Sopora mattresses are ergonomically designed, smart, and innovative.  They support where they should.  They protect as they must.  And they clean like a dream.  Made in the USA of environmentally healthy products, they are the ideal mix of innovative engineering and industry leading safety standards.

Learn more by visiting our website today.  And if you really want the scoop, talk to your speciality store, call Sopora, or even our Chief Operating Officer, Terri, herself.  You’ll be amazed at what you don’t know about mattresses–and what that could mean for your child!

Follow Your Dreams

Today we are so excited to introduce one of our sister brands, Sopora Sleep Products on the blog.  So now I’m turning it over to Jessica, from the Sopora marketing team to fill you in!

Ever have one of those ideas that you just can’t shake?  An idea that just makes so much sense that it could literally change everything?

We had one too, we’re Sopora Sleep Products, the newest division of Muniré Furniture. And we make the best crib mattresses in the industry.  Let us explain.  It’s actually a good story and it all starts with one woman. Introducing Terri Paul, division Chief Operating Officer of Sopora.

Terri  is a mother of four–and, pretty much, our hero.  When she became pregnant with her first child, she happened to be intimately involved in the adult medical mattress industry.  She knew that hospitals had incredibly high standards for mattresses for wear, health-related materials, and manufacturing practices. So when she went crib mattress shopping–she was basically shocked by the lack of standards and basic safety features for our tiniest citizens.  That day, she became a one woman revolution for changing the crib mattress industry.  She spent more than a decade developing her product and bringing it to market.  She founded Moonlight Slumber and was its president for seven years developing a great mattress.

But Terri knew that a great mattress is one thing, but making a mattress that is also good for the environment is just as important to our children’s future.  So she left Moonlight Slumber and founded Sopora Sleep Products. With the backing of Muniré Furniture, Terri once again was able to follow her dream and throw herself into R&D to make the best product on the market even better.  Using her well-honed expertise, and the talents of her ‘all-mom’ staff, she kept the best of her former product and improved on the rest.  She improved the materials used inside the mattress and met with countless parents, shop owners, manufacturers and child protection groups to hone it into mattress nirvana.  The result is an incredible blend of smart features made in an eco-conscious way.

In Latin, the word Sopora means bringing deep sleep.  That is the goal of Sopora.  Bringing deep sleep for babies and their parents.

Next time, we’ll begin a dialougue about mattresses and what makes Sopora so special.  But in the mean time, if you want to learn more about Terri or Sopora, please visit our website.
